Blackwater is situated approximately 200km west of Rockhampton and 55km from the beautiful Blackdown Tableland. It is predominantly a coal mining town with six coal mines operating in the district. It has a core population of around 5,000 people.
Blackwater North State School was opened in 1979 because of new mines opening and older mines expanding. This brought many new families to the town. The student population then was 181. Today the school population is above 400 students and the school boasts many new facilities. We take pride in our school and the quality education we endeavour to offer our students.
