This page is dedicated to the Ghungalu people, who are the traditional owners of the land in this district, out of respect for their elders both past and present. You can read about the Ghungalu people (DOCX, 1.2MB), a little about their language and where they live. It also tells us about the 'Adventures of Mook Mook', a series of books written for children by Marie Kemp and illustrated by Jack Kemp. Marie is a senior Ghungalu woman and Jack is her nephew.
You can also read the article Rainbow Waters that discusses Blackdown Tableland and mentions the indigenous paintings made by the Ghungalu people that can be found there.
Finally, we would like to thank the Ghungalu people for allowing us to put this information on our website.
